Scissors' stands for your work table. Each is turned from a different wood and then painted with motifs typical of schoolgirl ink and watercolor on wood. This technique was taught in girl's academies on the East Coast as one of the important accomplishments of young women. The existing examples show a strong relationship to motifs on 19th century samplers being worked in the same schools. If you own a box or threadwinders by Betsy or Eve, these scissors' stands are a very useful compliment, keeping the points safe in the center hole and easy to find.
Each stand is unique, painted by Betsy to compliment the wood and turning. Between 2"-3" high, they vary from 1.25"-2" in diameter and fit embroidery scissors.
