Thread Structure
Silk Cordon comes in seven color combinations in a traditional gimp structure made by wrapping a core thread in two complimentary colors of filament silk, resulting in stripes. With a diameter of about 1 mm, this size accentuates the natural shine of the silk.
Uses of Silk Cordon
Silk cordon is useful for rocks in grottos, outlining items, stems and tree trunks as well as other accents. Couch it down with either of the Tire silk threads to minimize the effect of the couching thread color on the stripe. While thick, silk cordon can be sunk to the back with a large eyed sinking needle to be whipped to the back of the embroidery for finishing a thread.
