Silk satine gimp is a thick, shiny gimp thread that can be used for outlining and fill for grounds, trees, flowers, and water. It can be laid next to other outlining threads to vary texture. It is about 1 mm in diameter and is sold in 3 meter lengths. Use Japanese rice glue to treat the ends so they don't fray and you get a good cut as it can not be sunk into the ground fabric.
Pictures show it next to silk gimp, which is switchable, and silk serpentine which is similar in size.
You can purchase the entire 15-color collection on one click.

Small silk laid down trim is a useful small size of a loopy trim. I like to use it to add a stand-up layer between silk purls, a nice line of trim such as a stem or pull it out a bit so the loops don't overlap anymore and use it as the wire edge for leaves and petals.
Each box has 18" of the trim that is laid down, it can be gently pulled as shown in the video to make a longer length of small silk scallop trim.
If there is a color you are looking for not in stock, email as I might have stock to make.

NEW! Gilt Folien Die Stamped pieces:
Gilt Folien No 411 - small cup shaped die cut spangles that are patterned on both sides. They can be held down with a bead, stitches, or a large french knot. 1 gram (approx. 20-24 in bag).
Gilt Folien No 198 - small flower shaped die cut pieces that are held down by stitch over them 2-3 times with a gold or colored thread. 1/2 gram (about 14) or 1 gram packages (about 28).
This is one of the most exciting product finds in years for me - spangles that are shaped! These spangles are made the way our normal ones are, but are then stamped with a die again to make them either textured or have a flower type shape. There are two which were sent in the Frostings Box 6 (No. 22 and No. 24) and two NEW ones (No 27 and No 23).
They are gilt and packaged in bags of 1 gram each. They are almost 4-5 mm in diameter. Depending on the spangle type, there are between 20-23 per gram.
You can imagine all kinds of ways to embellish them by using colored thread to secure them, a colored silk purl chip, a bead, etc.

I have added many plates that found at Benton and Johnson on my recent trip. They are in limited quantity.
Others are the extra plates and trims from the Frostings Box 6 and 7. The plates are gilt and are embossed with patterns or wrapped with a gold thread. They can be couched down or couched and folded over a felt or paper shape.
The gilt or silver trims are perfect to use to edge ornaments! Made from bullions or checks wrapped around a wire, they can hold a shape and be couched as a trim or outline. They are wonderful around the outside of a Christmas ornament.

This 18-month online course is a stand alone course, but complimentary to the Cabinet of Curiosities. It is intended to be a comprehensive investigation of stumpwork techniques of the 17th century. It includes:
The class kit will include linen and threads to enable the student to practice all the needlelace stitches. There will be samples of thread types (purls, gimps, facette, rococo, lacet, stumpwork forms, etc) to allow the student to experiment with them before embarking on a project they envision. The kit will be shipped in 1-2 parts.
The instructional material fills about three 3" binders and it is recommended that the students keep the material filed on their computer or iPad if they prefer.
Each lesson is released on the 1st of the month with an email to the student to remind them to log into the student teaching portal to download the materials. Animations can be watched on the portal at any time during the course and used over and over. Once a lesson is open, it stays open until the end of the class. A three-month period after the course is given to finish downloading. A link to an animation playlist hidden on YouTube is given to the students at the end to refer back to in the future for use in working stitches.
