Striped silk gimp comes in two families of matched striped fine silk gimps in a traditional gimp structure made by wrapping a core thread in two contrasting colors of filament silk, resulting in stripes. The families have been planed to go from dark to light.

Uses of Striped Silk Gimp
These stitchable color families are designed specifically for creating shaded couched or French knot rocks for grottos. The striped coloring mimics the appearance of granite, adding a natural, textured effect. While perfect for rock formations, the threads can also be used for other outlining techniques and decorative effects.
The striped silk gimp can be sunk to the back of the fabric using a large-eyed sinking needle, then whipped into place for a polished finish, making it easy to secure and complete your embroidery.
