Broad silk plate is a gilt metal strip about 2 mm wide that has been covered entirely with filament silk. It can also be run through a set of rollers to be bent into a crenelated shape. The colors are from Pipers silk.
Uses of Broad Silk Plate or Crenelated Plate
Crenelated silk plate can be couched down to add edges around shapes or contrast with other textured couched threads. Broad silk plate can be couched and folded over in a zig-zag over a padded shape.
