Thread Structure 

This is a very fine, tightly twisted 2-ply filament silk thread.  It is spooled as a single strand, not dividable. 

Uses of Tire Couching Silk

Tire #50 filament silk is an incredibly versatile thread, especially when couching silk-wrapped purls, gold threads, or attaching spangles. Its neutral gold color blends seamlessly with any metal thread, and its small yet strong profile allows it to effectively disappear when used with silk-wrapped purls. On some projects, I prefer to use just this one thread for all these tasks, rather than switching between threads, especially when working with thicker silk or metal threads that aren’t part of the Cabinet of Curiosities Historic Color Line.

It is available in two colors: gold (#86) and silver (#28).
