Description
I am excited to announce that I have recently published an article in the prestigious material culture journal, Winterthur Portfolio (Vol 59 No 1). This article is a summation of my research combining the knowledge of sampler and casket making/teaching, biographical research on sampler/casket makers and archival investigation. Crucial to the article is the knowledge from making, termed 'embodied knowledge' in the historical community. It is rare for a craftsperson's perspective to be published in a history journal and results in a new interpretation of the 17th century boarding school embroidery we love. Why should we makers publish in academic journals? Read my blog about this topic.
The article is amazingly 59-pages, vs the typical limit of 20 pages, I am very thankful for the extra space to explore the topic.
