This course is a 3-month project class which is an exploration of silk wrapped purl techniques in a Stuart Era flower design. Outlined in a gold twist, the silk wrapped purls are cut and applied in highly textural techniques and surrounded by spangles. The piece is about 3" x 4" in size when finished. The kit will also include samples of other types of silk wrapped purls along with a discussion of their uses.
Access to videos and presentation on how these materials are made as well as in depth tips for successfully working with these new threads.
The course started on February 1st. The kits, user names and passwords will be shipped and emailed on this date. 4 spots left for this course
Note: This is the second in a 2-part series of silk purl flowers. The first one was 10 years ago and the flowers coordinate if a student would like to know if this piece is the same size - yes but a different design and application of stitches as well as scale of silk purl. Students who were in the October 2018 running in person at Winterthur for this particular design will received an email next week with details on auditing the on-line version of the course.
